The work behind the model.

Test & Chase wasn't built on a slide. It came from the factory floor — transforming a traditional export operation into an e-commerce engine, sourcing fabric in person to hit impossible deadlines, and sharing what was coming with the industry years before it arrived.

Transforming the factory floor

Speaking on Alibaba's 1688 platform about fashion-led, small-batch production. This was the period we turned a traditional export factory into an e-commerce-speed system — and our quality outperformed the domestic factories around us. At the time, very few export-oriented factories understood how to run production in small units. We did.

Sourcing the fabric myself

To hit a speed deadline, you can't always wait on staff to find the right material. Here I am on the back of a motorbike, heading into the Guangzhou fabric market — one of the largest in China — to source special fabrics in person. Hands-on sourcing is how a 21-day turnaround actually happens.

Standing on the line

Export order or domestic speed order, the same standard holds. When a quality call is difficult — whether goods can ship or not — I step onto the floor with my QC manager and talk it through directly with the factory owner.

Sharing what was coming

By 2019 I was speaking at the Hong Kong Apparel Network in Hong Kong, sharing real success stories of taking factory production to online stores — and explaining what was coming next: e-commerce, the smart factory, and small-unit production. The thinking that became the Test & Chase model.
